Why should you employ me?
Why should you employ me? is a good question. On this page I aim to address this question and provide you with an overview of just what I can provide your company.
From an early age (12) I was building computers as well as diagnosing and fixing faults in systems for both friends and family. Since then I have enjoyed a passion for technology which has led me to gaining experiance in several different areas.
Multiple Operating Systems - I have experiance with every Windows Operating System since '98, right through to Windows 7. (Including the RTM and BETA versions of 7) This has led to gaining enough knowledge to perform system administration tasks (OS installation, malware removal, system configuration...) as well as isolating faults.
Furthermore, I have experiance with Linux - with multiple distributions including Ubuntu and Gentoo. I use Linux as my main system and I am fully confident with tasks such as hardware installation (pending compatability), package management, configuration and installation.
I also gained heavy experiance of Mac OS X whilst under employment at Amsys Plc.
Hardware Fault Finding - In addition to being previously employed as a Hardware Technician, I have grown up fixing computers as a hobby. This has given me valuable experiance when it comes to fault finding with computer systems.
It has also given me experiance using specific methodologies when finding faults - i.e "Split, Half, Search" and "Golden Parting".
Programming - At the age of 14 I began learning the C programming language. This led to me experimenting with x86 Assembly Language (Intel Syntax). I primarily developed on a Linux machine, using NASM and GCC.
Additionally, I am comfortable with web development - be it content management, configuring blogging/e-commerce/forum packages, or actual page development. I have used PHP and Javascript in the past, as well as HTML. (In fact, this website comes from a simple template - edited heavily in a simple text editor! Due to the lack of web development packages on this specific machine.)
Electronics - I also have an understanding of electronics, as well as soldering. This comes from computer modification, but I have also self-soldered PIC Programmer Boards and USB Interface Boards. In addition to this, I have connected sensors to the USB board before and plan to develop a small application to detect changes to the sensor, and act appropriately.

Working in a Team Environment I understand that it is important to act in a way appropriate to the team dynamic. This includes key ideas such as;
- Understanding different personalities, and their strengths and weaknesses
- Having respect for different values and backgrounds
- Knowing when humour is appreciated and suitable, and when its not
These ideas come in useful in the work environment, but I also feel they are appropriate for any situation with time restrictions or pressure involved. Understanding peoples strengths and weaknesses also allows you to seek help when needed, and allows a team to "gel" together and ultimately helps you maximise potential.

A large part of many jobs involves facing clients, and presenting a respectful and informative face of a company. I understand this, and feel as though I have several key skills in this area - all of which would be of value to any employer. These include;
Presenting a smart and friendly face - Perhaps the most important factor when dealing with clients, no matter how stressful a situation may be - I understand it is paramount to ensure the client has a satisfactory experiance.
Being able to relay information in a down-to-earth manner - In my previous position as a hardware technician, I had to regularly deal with customers who were not technologically aware - and may not have understood the full implications, or cause, of a fault. Due to this I learnt how to explain technical faults in an easy-to-understand manner that anyone could understand.
Data Protection - When dealing with customer information I am aware of the precuations that one should take when handling their data. This includes tasks such shredding any documents with their details on after they are used, as well as not using the information for tasks that it wasn't intended for. In addition to this; in a technical repair environment - I have experiance with having access to peoples data from their hard drives and computer systems.

Besides the above skills, I have several personal skills which could be of use to a potential employer. These include a sense of motivation and enthusiasm, a hard working nature including a friendly attitude.
