Hardware Technician - Amsys Plc, Croydon

Jan 2008 - Jun 2008

I was offered the job of Hardware Technician at Amsys Plc in December 2008 based on my knowledge and interest in electronics and computers, in addition to a basic pyschometric test.

Whilst here I was responsible for the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of Apple products - all the portable and desktop models, in addition to the troubleshooting of other Apple products. (Time Capsule etc) I both enjoyed the technical aspects of this role (as it satisfied a long running passion for taking things to bits!) as well as the opportunity to take different courses.

I also sat the Apple Certified Macintosh Technicians course, which involved common troubleshooting theory with practical modules. On top of this, I also learned about various safety procedures for dealing with CRTs as well as ESD precautions. (I was not required to sit the ACMT exam as I was working at the company which also provided the Apple Training, in addition to Maintenance - and it was company policy to wait 6 months before entering for the exam)

This job taught me many skills which I can transfer - including the necessary skill-set for logging technical information over the phone/email, dealing and liaising with customers and issuing them information regarding their faults, using large scale databases for storing and modifying data in addition to working in a team environment with a variety of people with a variety of strengths.
